Q1: Why should I choose OsteoSolution for my Osteoporosis or Osteoarthritis treatments?
A1: OsteoSolution is the first active medically supervised osteoporosis and osteoarthritis treatment centre in Ontario. Our multidisciplinary team of experienced healthcare professionals will work with you to design a fully tailored program that addresses your age, fitness level and state of health. Our program is designed to improve posture and body strength and increase range of motion and energy, allowing you to lead a pain-free active lifestyle, possibly delaying surgical intervention.
Q2: Are the services offered at your clinic covered by OHIP?
A2: The medical services are covered by OHIP. Our fees are for physiotherapy, the fitness classes. As of April 2005, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care only provides coverage for individuals under 19 and over 65 years of age at the few designated OHIP-funded clinics in the province, creating extensive wait times for treatment. Most extended health care plans will cover physiotherapy in part or in full. You should inquire about the specific coverage available to you.
Q3: I have Osteoporosis and am thinking about attending your clinic, what should I expect?
A3: First, you will meet with the orthopaedic surgeon for an initial consultation and comprehensive assessment, including a baseline Quantitative Bone Density Ultrasound. Once your program has been individually tailored to your needs, you will take part in a weekly fitness program delivered by a registered Kinesiologist. We also provide nutritional and educational workshops throughout the year. We understand that seeing progress is the best motivator, and so we monitor your progress throughout the year using Quantitative Bone Density Ultrasound and Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) as indicated.
Q4: I have Osteoarthritis and am thinking about attending your clinic, what should I expect?
A4: First, you will meet with an orthopaedic surgeon who will perform a detailed assessment and review relevant available imaging and reports. You will be educated about non-surgical or surgical treatment options depending on the severity of your osteoarthritis. You will then have a comprehensive focused assessment by an experienced physiotherapist, who will design an individualized treatment program. The goal of the program will be to improve function, minimize pain, increase range of motion and if possible, delay surgical intervention. Braces or orthotics will be recommended if indicated to improve mobility and function. Nutritional and educational workshops are also provided throughout the year. Follow-up with the orthopaedic surgeon and updated x-rays or other investigations will be arranged as indicated.
Q5: How long are my exercise sessions?
A5: Your sessions are designed to be 1 hour in length. The aim of your program is to meet your individual needs. Our Fitness Director will work within your level of tolerance, allowing you to work at your own pace, rest when you need, have input into the program and ask questions. We are here to provide a solution that works for you.
Q6: What should I wear to my exercise class?
A6: Please wear what you are comfortable in, we recommend light weight cotton clothing. Running shoes are required for a portion of the class.
Q7: I’m coming straight from work, do you have a place where I can change?
A7: We have change rooms where you can easily change into your exercise gear and an area where you can safely store your personal belongings.
Q8: Should I expect long wait periods while attending my medical assessment, exercise class or therapy session at OsteoSolution?
A8: At OsteoSolution we provide a supportive, warm, spa-like environment. We value your time and deliver our fitness classes and therapy sessions at the scheduled times. Should you wish to come early, we have a lovely waiting area equipped with a television, magazines, refreshments and friendly staff.
Q9: What are my payment options?
A9: We accept Debit/Interac, Visa and Mastercard. A proper receipt will be issued so that you may send it to your private health plan provider for reimbursement. These receipts may also be used to claim medical expenses on your tax return.
